The site was selected for its abundance of birch trees, many of which were carefully preserved and incorporated into the landscape plan. The team at Venture overcame challenges with the land by re-platting the site , bringing it to a level suitable for development.
The large 2-story glass atrium acts as the gathering space, the living room for its users and invites the community to experience the building and the culture through art displays located in the atrium. Large boulders outside flow into the atrium area and connect the land to the building.
Black stone towers represent the black sand of the Bristol Bay region and are designed with a high level of finishing to be used often and connect the separate entities. Red granite is symbolic of the tundra of the region. The board room takes in the magnificent view of the Chugach Mountains.
It was important to the shareholders that the building was modern and elegant, but not extravagant. The result is a project that incorporates the values of the shareholders and celebrates the Bristol Bay region and their cultural roots.
